Are you a bubbly, caring person? đź’›Companion Volunteer Aged Care | ACVVS Sunbury

Make a Difference in the Lives of Elderly Residents
Brighten someone's day and make a meaningful contribution to their quality of life! Our Friendship Program is a 1:1 personal visit which helps increase connectedness and happiness among aged care residents. We are looking for special people who put compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.Â
Many of our residents are looking forward to connecting with a volunteer and building a meaningful friendship.
We’re looking for a warm, compassionate female volunteer to spend time with our wonderful resident, Rose🌹
Rose would love the companionship of a friendly, bubbly person who can chat with her about her life, family and past experiences. Due to some hearing difficulties, someone with a clear and easy-to-understand way of speaking would be ideal.
A regular visitor with a warm and bubbly personality could gently encourage Rose to reconnect with the world around her and enjoy her surroundings. Rose’s wellbeing.
What You’ll Do:
- Share a cup of coffee and a quiet chat
- Engage in meaningful conversation
- Take a stroll in the garden
- Read books, play cards, or work on puzzles
- Listen to their favourite music
Who may be the right fit?
Someone who is gentle, reliable and compassionate, and who feels comfortable providing one-to-one companionship in an aged care environment.
The practical bits
- You must be 18 years or over.
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.
- Visits are approximately one hour, at least once a fortnight, with a minimum of 20 visits over 12 months.
- We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.
Why small moments count
Many people experience social isolation while living in aged care. Connection is often built through ordinary moments repeated over time. A familiar person to share those moments with can make a real difference.
