The Garden Club is a vibrant and community led initiative and Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre is keen to have someone on board with new and innovative ideas that will further enhance the program and increase membership and engagement.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Organise and facilitate a speaker or special interest workshop - third Tuesday of each month from February to November.
  • Work collaboratively with CNC staff to coordinate the marketing material to advertise the talks each month
  • Be on hand prior to the meetings each month to help set up and organise afternoon tea (participants are encouraged to stay for a cuppa and bring a plate to share). Talks or workshops are for two hours on the third Tuesday of each month.
  • Send out any relevant information once a month.
  • Distribute a newsletter or communication each month reminding members what's on and what is coming up.
  • Coordinate, if required any excursions - utilising public transport whenever possible.

Skills & Experience:

  • A genuine interest in gardening.
  • Experience or interest in facilitating a community led group.
  • Ability to coordinate workshops, introduce and welcome speakers.
  • Good communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • A warm and inclusive approach to community engagement.
  • Experience in marketing and promotion of activities or events. (not essential)
