Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general supervision of children while parents or carers participate in antenatal class activities.
  • Maintain the sign-in/out register for the activity space.
  • Support a calm, safe, and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Engage with children in an age-appropriate, respectful, and inclusive manner.
  • Follow Logan Hub and program guidance, safety expectations, and escalation processes.
  • Work collaboratively with program staff and seek support when required.

Role Boundaries

  • The volunteer will not be required to provide food to children. Volunteers must not provide children with food, drinks, or medication. Parents remain responsible for these needs.
  • The volunteer will not be required to assist with toileting or personal care requirements. If a child requires toileting, nappy changing, or other personal care, the parent will be asked to attend to the child.
  • Any injury, illness, behavioral concern, safeguarding concern, or other incident must be reported immediately to the designated program staff member.
  • A maximum of 9 children will be in the supervision space at any one time. If there are 9 children, 2 volunteers will be present.

Induction and Support

Induction and onboarding will be provided before the volunteer commences. This will include an overview of the venue, program expectations, safety processes, role boundaries, and who to contact for assistance during each session.
