The Big Sister Foundation supports positive social change for women and families across the St George and Sutherland Shire (SGSS) through thoughtful philanthropy, strong community relationships and effective grant making.
We’re seeking a Volunteer Board Director to strengthen our Board’s expertise, diversity, and strategic capability.
This role is ideal for a proactive, organised professional who thrives in a purpose‑driven environment and enjoys working closely with a committed Board in a small team
This is a meaningful opportunity to support local women’s services and connect with like‑minded community members who share our commitment to strengthening women’s wellbeing in the St George and Sutherland Shire (SGSS) community.
As a Board Director you will contribute to governance, strategic direction, and long‑term sustainability of the Foundation .
Key Responsibilities
• Active participation in Board meetings (10 per year)
• Strategic planning, risk oversight, and sustainability
• Ethical, informed, collaborative governance and decision‑making
• Engagement with partners and community organisations (approx 10 hours per year)
• Upholding our mission and values
Who We’re Looking For
• Previous board or committee experience (ideal)
• Professional experience in business, government, nonprofit or philanthropy
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of local community organisations in the St George and Sutherland Shire.
Additional skills we value:
• Social media/IT skills, social impact evaluation, governance/policy experience, finance and accounting
