Help us grow our new coffee van 🌱☕

Green Thumb Farm is looking for a volunteer Trainee Barista to join our team for one morning each week and help us establish our new coffee van as a sustainable part of the farm.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has recently completed barista training and is looking for practical experience, or for someone who is keen to learn and explore coffee as a future career.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and serve quality coffee and other drinks
  • Provide warm, friendly and excellent customer service
  • Help with opening, setting up, cleaning and closing the coffee van
  • Learn our coffee, equipment, menu and systems
  • Help us develop efficient systems and a great customer experience as the van grows
  • Work independently while also being part of a wider volunteer team

Who we’re looking for

You’ll be reliable, friendly and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in coffee and customer service. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, willing to learn and take direction, and enjoy working as part of a team. Most importantly, you’ll need to connect with Green Thumb Farm’s values and our commitment to healthy people, thriving communities and regenerated soil.

Previous barista training or experience is ideal, but not essential. Training and support will be tailored to your experience, and for the right volunteer with little or no experience, we may be able to cover the cost of introductory barista training.

We’re looking for someone who can commit to one morning each week for up to three months. This will give you the opportunity to build your skills and confidence while helping us establish the coffee van and develop it into a sustainable part of the farm.

Why volunteer with us?

You’ll gain real-world experience working with a commercial coffee van, build your confidence and customer service skills, and play an important role in helping us establish a new part of Green Thumb Farm.

Green Thumb Farm is an educational and community-focused farm in Samford Valley where people of all ages can reconnect with how food is grown, experience regenerative gardening and celebrate human connection.

Your contribution will help us create a welcoming place for people to stop, connect and enjoy a great coffee while supporting the broader work of the farm.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply through this listing and tell us a little about yourself, your coffee experience or training, and why you’d like to volunteer with Green Thumb Farm.
