Board Treasurer – Non-Executive Director

Jubilee Community Care is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Board as Treasurer and Non-Executive Director.
This is an opportunity to contribute your financial and commercial expertise to a well-established not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting older people to remain independent and connected in their own homes and communities for more than 35 years.
About Jubilee Community Care
Jubilee Community Care is offering a meaningful opportunity for a Treasurer to join the Board of our Brisbane-based not-for-profit aged care provider. We deliver in-home and community-based services to older people across Brisbane.
As the aged care sector continues to undergo significant reform, including the transition to the Support at Home program, Jubilee is focused on ensuring strong governance, financial sustainability and high-quality services for the people and communities we support.
We are looking for an experienced finance professional who can bring strategic financial insight to our Board and contribute to Jubilee's next phase.
About the role
As Treasurer, you will work collaboratively with the Board, Executive Director and finance team to provide financial governance, oversight and strategic guidance.
This is a governance and oversight role rather than an operational accounting position.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing financial insight and advice to the Board to support informed decision-making.
• Reviewing and providing oversight of budgets, forecasts, management accounts and financial performance.
• Supporting the Board's oversight of financial sustainability, cash flow and organisational performance.
• Providing guidance on financial risks, controls and governance.
• Supporting oversight of statutory, regulatory and financial reporting obligations.
• Liaising with the Executive Director, finance team, auditors and other advisers as appropriate.
• Contributing more broadly to Board discussions regarding strategy, risk, governance and organisational sustainability.
• Presenting financial matters to the Board in a clear and accessible way.
About you
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced finance professionals who bring:
• Senior-level experience in finance, accounting, financial management or commercial leadership.
• A relevant professional qualification such as CA, CPA or equivalent.
• Strong financial literacy with experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis.
• An understanding of financial governance, risk and internal controls.
• The ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate the key issues clearly to fellow Board members.
• Strategic and commercial thinking combined with a collaborative approach.
• An understanding of the distinction between governance and operational management.
Previous Board or governance experience would be highly regarded but is not essential for the right candidate.
Experience in aged care, community services, health, the not-for-profit sector or another regulated service environment would also be advantageous.
Most importantly, we are seeking someone who shares Jubilee's commitment to supporting older people to live independently, with dignity and choice.
Why join Jubilee?
This is an interesting time to contribute to the governance of an established community organisation.
The Australian aged care sector is undergoing significant change, creating both challenges and opportunities for providers. The Treasurer will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Jubilee's financial strategy and sustainability while working alongside an experienced and committed Board and leadership team.
The position is voluntary and involves attendance at regular Board meetings together with reasonable preparation and engagement between meetings.
Expression of interest
If you are an experienced finance professional looking to contribute your skills at Board level and make a meaningful difference in the community, we would welcome hearing from you.
Please submit a brief expression of interest outlining your experience and interest in the role, together with your CV.
