Trip Leader - Social Outings and Community Transport
Redcliffe Community Bus for Disabled or Aged Inc (RCB) supported by Volunteering Queensland

Redcliffe Community Bus for Disabled or Aged Inc. (RCB) is a local not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting the Redcliffe Peninsula community since 1981. We provide door-to-door transport, social outings, shopping services and group activities for older people and people living with disability, helping our members remain active, independent and socially connected.
We are looking for friendly, reliable and organised volunteers to join our team as Trip Leaders.
About the role
Our Trip Leaders play an important role in helping our social outings and activities run smoothly. Working as part of a team with our volunteer Drivers and Bus Helpers, the Trip Leader helps coordinate the day's activities and is the main point of contact for the RCB team while out on a trip.
Depending on the roster, you may assist with a full-day social outing or one of our Pick Up/Drop Off services.
Your duties may include:
- helping coordinate the day's planned activities
- briefing and working with Drivers and Bus Helpers
- welcoming and supporting members throughout the day
- helping members travel safely and comfortably
- assisting with shopping bags, mobility aids and other practical needs where required
- liaising with venues, including coordinating members' meal requests
- collecting and accurately recording member payments
- maintaining accurate attendance records
- communicating with RCB staff if concerns or issues arise
- assisting with wheelchair hoists and restraint systems where required and once trained
- helping create a friendly, inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Who we're looking for
You don't need previous aged care or disability experience. More important to us is finding someone who is compassionate, patient, dependable and enjoys working with people.
You'll need to be organised, comfortable communicating with others and confident taking some responsibility for helping the day run smoothly. You'll also need to be reasonably active, as the role can involve assisting with shopping bags and other practical tasks.
Basic mobile phone and email skills are required.
A commitment of approximately four days per month is desirable. As some trips involve early morning departures and split shifts, you'll need to be able to reliably attend our Redcliffe premises when rostered.
Why volunteer with RCB?
For many of our members, an RCB outing is much more than getting from one place to another. It's an opportunity to get out of the house, spend time with others, enjoy new experiences and remain connected with their community.
As a Trip Leader, you'll have the satisfaction of seeing the difference your time makes while enjoying a varied role that gets you out and about meeting people.
You'll become part of a friendly team of staff and volunteers, with induction, training and ongoing support provided.
RCB will arrange and pay for the required National Police Check. Volunteers are eligible to claim an honorarium of $15 for a shift of four hours or more.
Interested?
If you're looking for a rewarding, hands-on volunteer role where you can meet people, contribute to your local community and help older people and people living with disability stay socially connected, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply through SEEK Volunteer and tell us a little about yourself, your availability and why you're interested in becoming a Trip Leader with RCB. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by our team to arrange a discussion regarding the role and your suitability.
