3MBS is looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to join our reception team and help keep the station running smoothly.

As a Reception Volunteer, you’ll be one of the welcoming faces of 3MBS, helping visitors, answering phone calls and emails, assisting callers and supporting our subscriber community. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet other volunteers and be part of the day-to-day life of Melbourne’s community classical music and jazz station.

What you’ll do

• Welcome visitors to the station
• Answer and direct phone calls
• Respond to general enquiries by email and phone
• Assist subscribers and members of our community
• Help with basic administrative tasks
• Use our database to update and access information
• Work alongside other volunteers and 3MBS staff

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who are:

• Friendly, approachable and reliable
• Comfortable using computers and email
• Confident communicating with people in person and over the phone
• Willing to learn our database system
• Happy to work as part of a small team
• No previous reception experience is required. We’ll provide an introduction to the station and training in the systems you’ll need to use.

Volunteer commitment

Reception shifts are currently available:

Tuesdays, 1pm–5pm

Thursdays, 1pm–5pm

Saturdays, 10am–1pm

You don’t need to be available for every shift, but we’re looking for volunteers who can commit to a regular shift where possible.
