Do you enjoy gardening and want to make a meaningful difference in your community? Become a Gardening Volunteer at Anam Cara Residential Aged Care Community at Bray Park. Help maintain our gardens and create welcoming outdoor spaces where residents can relax, connect, and enjoy nature.

These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!

The Gardening Volunteer can help residents by:

  • Watering and caring for the outdoor gardens.
  • Weeding, pruning and fertilising garden beds.
  • Planting flowers, herbs and other plants.
  • Helping to create attractive and welcoming outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy.
  • Spending time with residents who enjoy gardening and chatting about plants and nature.
  • Communicating resident feedback to staff to help enhance the gardening program and resident experience.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteer hours are available Monday to Friday with flexible hours based on your availability.

Anam Cara is a welcoming and rewarding place to volunteer where you will meet many wonderful people and learn great new skills that may assist you both personally and professionally. There are lots of other benefits to volunteering with us as well, such as:

  • Great education opportunities
  • Access to online and face-to-face wellness advisors
  • Invitations to social events
  • Being part of a team that really is making a difference in the lives of seniors in our Aged Care Communities.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.

We look forward to hearing from you!
