• One hour can create a genuine sense of connection.
• Friendship and companionship are at the heart of every visit.
• No aged care experience needed, just kindness and reliability.

💜 About Nadia

• Nadia speaks both French and English and would enjoy chatting with someone who is happy to converse in either language.

• She has a lifelong love of sewing and used to make beautiful dresses for dolls. Her sewing machine remains in her room and is a treasured connection to her past.

• Nadia would benefit from regular companionship to help reduce loneliness and provide meaningful social connection.

🧩 What a Visit Could Look Like 🧩

• Sharing stories over a cup of tea or coffee

• Sewing together or talking about fashion, creativity, family, and life experiences

• Looking through magazines, photographs, or craft ideas together

• Enjoying conversation in English or French

• Simply spending time together and building a genuine friendship

✨ What is ACVVS? ✨

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who are be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship, and meaningful connection.

St Vincent's is seeking volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice, and integrity, and who would like to make a positive difference in the life of an older person.

🌈 Who Could Be a Great Fit? 🌈

Someone who is:

• Friendly, patient, and a good listener

• Interested in hearing life stories and sharing conversation

• Able to visit regularly and build a meaningful connection

• A French speaker (welcome but not essential)

You do not need aged care experience or any special qualifications. Your role is simply friendship and companionship.

💞 Why Your Visits Make a Difference 💞

For older people experiencing loneliness and social isolation, having a regular visitor can provide comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging. Your visits could become a highlight of Nadia's fortnight and help her feel seen, valued, and connected.

The Practical Bits

• You must be 18 years or over

• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's

• Visits are approximately 30 minutes to one hour, at least once a fortnight throughout the year

• We are looking for someone who can commit to building an ongoing, respectful friendship

🌸 Could You Be Nadia's New Friend? 🌸

If you enjoy sewing or conversation, appreciate creativity and life stories, and can spare an hour every fortnight, we would love to hear from you.

Your friendship could help bring warmth, connection, and companionship to Nadia's life.
