Purpose

  • Be the connector and supporter at the heart of AJP QLD's advocacy work. You build relationships with NGOs and allied organisations, find petitions currently being raised and connect with the people behind them, and support every Advocacy Campaign Coordinator so they can do their best work. You sit under the Advocacy Portfolio Manager and are the glue that holds the advocacy team together.

    Key Duties

  • Build NGO relationships: Connect with NGOs and allied organisations, maintain those relationships, and look for partnership opportunities

  • Find petitions: Monitor for petitions currently raised that align with AJP QLD's positions, connect with the people behind them, and support them

  • Support Advocacy Campaign Coordinators: Support the campaigns where you have capacity to do so.  Find tools, templates, contacts, or research that coordinators need

  • Coordinate across campaigns: Make sure campaigns aren't duplicating effort or competing for the same volunteers

  • Maintain a relationship register: Keep track of NGO and petition contacts, last contact, and next steps

  • Amplify campaigns: Make sure campaigns get cross-promoted across the portfolios and that actions (petition signatures, submissions) feed into the wider effort

Skills & Experience Needed

  • No professional experience required; training and support provided.
  • Strong organisational skills, creativity, and initiative.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal.

  • If you have previous experience in planning, project management, or advocacy, that’s a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Openness to learning new skills and approaches
