SEEK Volunteer: Events Coordinator

ACU Football Club

ACU Football Club is looking for a volunteer Events Coordinator to help plan and deliver our major club events.

The Events Coordinator will take the lead in organising our two main social events each year:

  • Trivia Night, generally held in June
  • Annual Awards Night, generally held in September

This is a flexible volunteer role with no significant weekly commitment for much of the year. Most of the workload is concentrated in the planning period leading into each event and on the events themselves.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Developing event plans and timelines
  • Coordinating venues, suppliers and other event requirements
  • Helping establish event budgets and monitor costs
  • Coordinating ticketing, registrations and attendee information
  • Working with the committee on event promotion and communications
  • Coordinating volunteers and event-night logistics
  • Helping deliver events on the night
  • Identifying opportunities to improve ACU FC's events from year to year

You won't be expected to do everything yourself. You'll work with the ACU FC committee and other club volunteers, including people with previous professional experience in event management and sports administration.

Previous experience organising sporting-club events is not required. We're looking for someone who is organised, communicates well, enjoys bringing people together and is comfortable taking ownership of a project.

This could particularly suit a university student or graduate studying events, sport management, marketing, communications or business, an early-career events professional looking for hands-on experience, or an experienced events/community volunteer wanting to contribute to a local sporting club.

For someone building a career in events or sport, the role provides the opportunity to take genuine ownership of real events from planning through to delivery and build practical experience for their CV.

There may also be opportunities to become involved in additional club activities during the year if you're interested, but these are not a core requirement of the role.
