Help us build something from the beginning
Social Local Collective is a charity working to reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating more opportunities for people to meet, make friends and feel like they belong.
We’re looking for a Sydney-based content creator to work directly with our founders and help bring our next project to life.
This is a hands-on creative role where you’ll have genuine input into the ideas, content, look and feel of what we create.
We’re creating something different
We’re creating a brand-new weekend experience for women centred around female friendship, fun and community.
Think school camp, but for grown women.
A weekend where you can turn up as you are, meet new people, be a bit silly, make friends and have genuinely fun, real-life experiences together.
Our first event will bring together 120 women in Sydney, and we’re building the concept, brand and social presence from the beginning.
We want to capture the whole thing: the anticipation, the planning, the people, the little moments, the chaos and the fun.
We want someone who can see a moment and think:
"That would make such a good Reel."
Someone who can picture the shots before they happen, come up with ideas on the spot and create content that makes people think:
"I want to be there."
You’ll also help take Social Local Collective’s existing Instagram in a new direction.
Why it matters
The content will be fun, creative, aesthetic and current, but there’s a bigger purpose behind it.
Loneliness and social isolation can have a real impact on health and wellbeing. We want to create more opportunities for people to meet and build friendships, while helping raise awareness of the importance of social health.
We want to talk about something important in a way that feels positive, interesting and relevant, not like a traditional charity campaign.
What you’ll do
Working directly with the founders, you’ll:
• Create Reels and short-form video
• Film and edit content
• Take photos and capture real people and experiences
• Come up with creative concepts and ideas
• Help shape our visual style and aesthetic
• Capture the journey of building the project
• Create content for the launch and event
• Create Stories and other social content
• Bring your own ideas, references and creative perspective
We already have support with broader social media strategy, so the focus of this role is content and creativity. If strategy is also your thing, that’s a bonus.
We’re looking for someone who
• Is Sydney-based
• Has a strong sense of aesthetic
• Has a great eye for photography, video and visual storytelling
• Loves Reels and short-form content
• Understands what feels current on Instagram and TikTok
• Has their own creative style and point of view
• Is naturally curious and loves coming up with ideas
• Is excited by the idea of creating something from the beginning
You don’t need years of experience or a particular qualification.
We care much more about your creative eye, your ideas and what you can actually make.
What you’ll get to be part of
This is a chance to work directly with the founders and help shape something from the very beginning.
You’ll get to:
• Help shape the look and feel of something brand new
• Build your portfolio with real work
• Be involved from the very beginning
• Attend events and content shoots
• Experiment with ideas and see what works
• Create content that is genuinely fun
• Contribute to something with a meaningful social purpose
If you’re already imagining the content you could create, we’d love to hear from you.
