About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
ABV is partnering with Benambra Neighbourhood House to recruit a volunteer Governance and Constitution Review Advisor to review the organisation's governance framework, assess its governing rules or constitution. Benambra Neighbourhood House plays a vital role in fostering social connection, wellbeing and community resilience in a remote rural community, the organisation delivers important programs and activities that strengthen local community capacity and connection.
In this role, you will review the organisation's governance framework, policies and governing documents to identify improvements and strengthen compliance. Working with board members and key stakeholders, you will provide practical recommendations and develop a roadmap to enhance governance capability, support future charity registration and strengthen long-term sustainability.
Selection Criteria:

Demonstrated experience in not-for-profit governance, board development or organisational governance reviews.

Strong understanding of incorporated associations, constitutions, Model Rules and governance compliance requirements.

Strong written communication, stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.

Experience developing implementation roadmaps, action plans or governance improvement strategies.

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working with community-based or volunteer-led organisations.

Understanding of community organisations, neighbourhood houses or place-based initiatives, with rural, remote or volunteer-led organisations.
Role information:
- Start November 2026
- Approximately 6 months
- Online/Remote: An initial site visit can be arranged depending on the preference and availability.
