Smiles 4 Miles is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission of bringing smiles to the faces of children receiving palliative and end-of-life care.
We run fun, inclusive and meaningful programs designed around the interests, abilities and needs of children and their families. From slime making and science experiments to disco parties, karaoke, arts and crafts, games and sensory activities, our programs aim to create moments of happiness, connection and companionship during an incredibly challenging time.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Volunteer Events Management Team to help us organise and deliver fundraisers to support our mission.
About the Role
As a member of our Volunteer Events Management Team, you will work alongside the Smiles 4 Miles team to help plan, organise and coordinate fundraising events.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys event planning, organisation, creativity and working as part of a team, and who wants to use their skills to make a genuine difference.
Key Duties
Depending on your interests and experience, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of Smiles 4 Miles events and fundraisers.
- Helping develop creative ideas for upcoming events
- Assisting with event logistics, including resources, equipment, supplies and set-up requirements
- Helping coordinate volunteers before and during events
- Assisting with event schedules, checklists and planning documents
- Communicating with the Smiles 4 Miles team regarding upcoming events and activities
- Helping organise event materials and resources
- Assisting with set-up and pack-down where required
- Supporting the smooth running of events on the day
- Contributing ideas to improve the experience for children, families and volunteers

Previous event management experience is welcome but not essential. We are particularly interested in people who are enthusiastic, organised and willing to contribute their skills and ideas.

Commitment
This is a volunteer position. The level of involvement can vary depending on upcoming events, your availability and your role within the team.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to being reliable and involved in the planning process and who are willing to contribute their time and ideas to help Smiles 4 Miles grow.

Successful applicants will be required to complete the relevant volunteer screening and onboarding requirements before commencing.
