As this time slot is a busy time in the ward your help would be greatly appreciated by the patients and staff by:

Assisting patients accessing their meals (opening drink containers, removing lids from meals, etc)
Being company whilst patients are having their nightly meal
Engaging in conversation during this time
Encouraging patients to eat their meal - Volunteers DO NOT feed patients
Assisting patients to complete their next meal menu
Assist with opening the ward doors to visitors

*Please note: This role requires volunteer to be bare below the elbows i.e. Finger nail must be short and clean, no painted nails, no acrylic nails, no jewellery or watches to be worn, this helps with the Hand Hygiene practices volunteers must adhere to. *As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance). *Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
