Membership Experience Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our team as a member engagement specialist. The Member Engagement Specialist supports the development and delivery of initiatives that enhance member experience, participation, and retention across the PMI Queensland community.

This role works to strengthen connections, promote value-driven programs, and ensure members feel supported and engaged throughout their PMI journey. The role contributes to advancing the chapter’s mission aligned with the global Project Management Institute (PMI) community.

Responsibilities

• Input into the identification and development of benefit opportunities for members.

• Sharing market and/or Industry perspective(s) on PMI Queensland Chapter membership.

• Building networks with other not for profit entities and national chapters to share best practice on membership retention and growth.

• Delivering KPIs set in the annual business plans for Membership portfolio.

Duties

• Assist with events and group meetups.

• Attend monthly chapter events, make members feel welcome and represent PMI Queensland chapter in a professional manner.

• Canvas professional networks appropriately to help identify what factors might encourage Chapter membership or drive attrition.

• Help with the creation of artefacts / documentation / tools as appropriate, in support of value increasing initiatives.

• Proactively identify opportunities to increase value proposition for members and work in collaboration with PMI ® and Leadership team to work on those opportunities.

• From time to time, undertake appropriate fact-finding to help identify what other Institutes and similar entities are doing to provide benefits to their members.

• Respond to enquiries from members as well as non-members in a timely manner and in the best interest of PMI ® and PMI Queensland.

• Conduct periodical New Members Welcome events.

• Conduct membership campaigns supported by PMI® to attract and retain members.

Experience:

1. Experience in membership engagement, stakeholder management, or customer experience, ideally within a professional or volunteer organisation.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead or support initiatives that enhance member value and engagement.
3. Experience in team collaboration, networking, and relationship building across diverse groups.
4. Prior involvement in volunteer leadership, events, or programs that support professional communities.

Education and Training

• Strong understanding of PMI® and PMI Queensland Chapter’s organisational structure, values, pillars, and vision, including the Chapter’s strategic objectives relating to membership and growth.
• Familiarity with project management principles and PMI standards; PMP® or other PMI certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development in leadership, membership engagement, and stakeholder management.
• Must be a member of PMI Queensland
