Aged Care Volunteer Visitor

Northern Volunteering SA is seeking a kind, compassionate and patient volunteer to join our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) team and provide friendship and companionship to a lovely lady in her late 60s who lives alone with her beloved cat.
She would greatly benefit from having someone visit regularly for a friendly chat, a cuppa and some company.
What would you be doing?
- Visiting the lady in her home at Golden Grove for regular social visits.
- Sharing a cuppa, having a chat and getting to know one another.
- Offering a friendly, supportive presence and helping reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
- Building a trusting friendship at a comfortable pace, based on mutual interests and conversation.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is:
- Aged 18 years or older.
- Kind, compassionate, patient and a good listener.
- Comfortable chatting with someone and helping them feel valued and included.
- Reliable and willing to commit to regular fortnightly visits.
You don’t need previous volunteering experience. A friendly personality, a caring attitude and a genuine interest in connecting with another person are what matter most.
About Northern Volunteering SA and the ACVVS - Northern Volunteering SA has been supporting the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) since 1992. The program connects older people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation with volunteer visitors who provide regular friendship and companionship.
The ACVVS is a free service that helps older people maintain meaningful social connections and feel more connected to their community. For many older people, opportunities for regular social interaction can be limited, and having a familiar, friendly face visit can make a real difference to their wellbeing and quality of life.
As a volunteer, you will be supported by our ACVVS coordinator throughout your volunteering journey who will help facilitate the match and provide guidance to help you feel confident in your role.
The impact you can make - A little of your time can mean so much to someone else. By giving your time to visit, listen and share a conversation, you can help someone feel less alone, build a meaningful connection and bring a little extra joy into their week.
If you have a caring heart and would like to make a positive difference in someone’s life, we would love to hear from you!
