Volunteer Queensland Committee Member

The Pinnacle Foundation

The Pinnacle Foundation | Queensland
Volunteer | Approx. 1–2 hours per week

Help create a future where young LGBTQIA+ Australians have the opportunity, support and confidence to realise their full potential.

The Pinnacle Foundation is seeking passionate and engaged volunteers to join our Queensland Committee, helping us grow our impact across the state and support the next generation of LGBTQIA+ leaders.

About The Pinnacle Foundation

The Pinnacle Foundation is Australia’s LGBTQIA+ education charity, providing educational scholarships, mentoring and opportunities to young LGBTQIA+ Australians.

Our vision is for a richer, more inclusive society with visible LGBTQIA+ role models. Through financial support, carefully matched mentors and connection to the wider Pinnacle community, we help young people overcome barriers, pursue their education and realise their full potential.

Our work is made possible by a national community of scholars, alumni, mentors, volunteers, donors and corporate and philanthropic partners.

About the role

As a member of the Queensland Committee, you’ll work alongside a small group of committed volunteers to help deliver The Pinnacle Foundation’s mission locally.

This is a practical, collaborative role. Committee members contribute their skills, ideas and networks to support Queensland scholars, raise awareness of Pinnacle’s work, strengthen our local community and help deliver events, fundraising and engagement activities throughout the year.

There is plenty of scope to shape your contribution around your skills and interests, whether that is events, partnerships, fundraising, communications, community engagement, professional networks or simply getting things done.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Queensland Committee member, you may:

  • Support our scholars and community, helping create opportunities for Queensland scholars, mentors and alumni to connect with each other and the wider Pinnacle family.
  • Help deliver events and fundraising activities, from scholar and community events through to corporate engagement and awareness initiatives.
  • Promote The Pinnacle Foundation, using your networks and connections to build awareness of scholarships, mentoring and opportunities for young LGBTQIA+ Australians.
  • Build relationships with supporters and partners, helping identify opportunities to broaden Pinnacle’s reach and impact across Queensland.
  • Support scholarship selection, including participation in the annual scholarship assessment process where required.
  • Contribute to committee priorities and projects, bringing your experience, ideas and energy to regular committee discussions and activities.

About you

You don’t need previous committee experience. We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic about Pinnacle’s purpose and willing to make an active contribution.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have a genuine commitment to supporting and empowering young LGBTQIA+ Australians.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and are comfortable taking ownership of projects or actions.
  • Can bring skills, experience or networks that could help grow Pinnacle’s impact in Queensland.
  • Are reliable, proactive and happy to pitch in when needed.
  • Value inclusion, empathy and creating opportunities for others.

We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds, professions, experiences and perspectives. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies who strongly connect with our purpose are encouraged to apply.

Time commitment

The role requires an average commitment of approximately 1–2 hours per week, which includes committee meetings and progressing agreed activities.

The commitment will vary across the year and may be higher around key events, fundraising activities and the annual scholarship selection period. Some activities will take place online, with opportunities to participate in in-person events and activities in Queensland.

Volunteer basis

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute directly to an organisation creating meaningful opportunities for young LGBTQIA+ Australians, meet an extraordinary community of scholars, mentors, alumni, partners and volunteers, and use your skills and experience to create tangible social impact.
