Volunteer Grant Writer (Online)

Tanya's Home Limited

Logo for Tanya's Home Limited

Right now, a mum in Victoria is fighting to bring her children home. She's doing everything that's asked of her: rehab, court, appointments. Often, what stands in her way is something practical, like a lift to court, a bed for her kids or a safe place to stay. Tanya's Home steps in to close those gaps, and grants are how we keep doing it.

You don't need to be an experienced grant writer to join us. If you enjoy writing, like a bit of research and want to learn how charities are funded, we'll show you how it works. You'll have your own Claude AI account to help with research and drafting, and guidance from our Founder along the way. This role is fully online, so you can help from anywhere.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Searching for grants that fit our work, from trusts, foundations, businesses and government
  • Using AI tools to draft applications, then checking, polishing and tailoring them
  • Working with our Founder to gather budgets, program details and supporting documents
  • Keeping track of deadlines and getting applications ready on time. Our Founder reviews and approves every application before it's submitted
  • Helping with progress reports for grants we win

What You'll Gain:

  • Real grant writing experience, one of the most valued skills in the not-for-profit sector
  • Your own Claude AI account, and the confidence to use AI tools well
  • Mentoring and guidance from a Founder who has already secured grant funding
  • Insight into how charities are funded, run and grown
  • Experience you can talk about in job applications and interviews
  • Knowing your words helped keep a family together

Who We'd Love to Hear From:

  • Students in community services, social work, communications, business or related fields
  • People thinking about a career in the not-for-profit sector
  • People returning to work who want to build confidence and skills
  • Experienced grant writers who want to give back
  • Anyone who writes clearly, likes a bit of research and is willing to learn

Give What You Can:

There's no minimum time commitment. Whether you can give an hour here and there or a few hours a week, there's a place for you. Our volunteers work as a team and share the load, so every bit of time makes a difference.

About Tanya's Home:

Tanya's Home Limited is a Victorian charity founded from lived experience. We support mothers affected by addiction, family violence and other complex circumstances who are involved with Child Protection, and help them keep or reunify with their children. Our support includes advocacy, Children's Court support, treatment and rehabilitation pathways, peer support, transport and emergency essentials. We hold DGR and PBI status and are preparing to open our first supported home for mothers. We're small, growing and full of heart, and our volunteers are a real part of the team.

Your Impact:

Every grant you help win becomes something real: a mum who isn't alone at Children's Court, a place in rehab, a bed so her children can come home. You'll be part of the reason a family stays together.

How to Apply:

Apply through SEEK Volunteer, or contact Georgina at [email protected] or on 0437 710 663. Not sure if you're the right fit? Apply anyway, or just get in touch for a chat. We'd love to hear from you.

We're recruiting for several roles at the moment and some overlap, so take a look at our other Tanya's Home opportunities on SEEK Volunteer too. If more than one appeals to you, let us know when you apply.
