Help Transform Mental Healthcare in Australia

Mind Medicine Australia is seeking committed volunteers to join our Melbourne-based team and contribute to our mission of improving mental health outcomes through education, advocacy, research and community engagement. We are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to expanding treatment options and helping alleviate the suffering caused by mental illness in Australia.

In recent years, professional education has become an important part of our work as Australia's psychedelic-assisted therapy landscape continues to evolve. Through our internationally recognised Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (CPAT), we support healthcare professionals to develop knowledge, skills and capabilities in this emerging area of mental healthcare. Volunteers play an important role in helping support the delivery of these educational programs, including operational and administrative activities associated with the residential retreat component of the course, as well as contributing to the broader work of the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to become part of a passionate, purpose-driven organisation and gain valuable practical experience and professional development while contributing to meaningful work that supports positive change in the mental health sector.

Before You Apply

To ensure volunteers receive a meaningful experience and can make a valuable contribution to our work, applicants must be able to commit to:

  • A minimum of one day per week
  • A minimum six-month commitment
  • Attendance at our Melbourne office
  • Signing a Volunteer Agreement and Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

This role is best suited to individuals seeking a structured, ongoing volunteer opportunity rather than a short-term or occasional volunteering experience.

About the Opportunity

Volunteers are an important part of our organisation and contribute their skills across a range of projects and operational activities. We invest time in helping volunteers understand who we are, what we do and the impact of our work before gradually introducing responsibilities aligned with their skills, interests and experience.

Initially, volunteers may assist with administrative and operational activities, including supporting preparations for the residential retreat component of our educational programs. As confidence and familiarity with the organisation grow, there may be opportunities to contribute to broader initiatives and projects.

Areas where volunteers may be able to assist include:

  • Administration and office support
  • Event and retreat preparation
  • Research assistance
  • Communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Project coordination
  • General operational support

Volunteers with a wide range of professional, academic and personal backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Gain

Benefits of volunteering with Mind Medicine Australia include:

  • The opportunity to contribute to a leading not-for-profit organisation in the psychedelic-assisted therapies sector
  • Exposure to a broad range of organisational functions and projects
  • Working alongside passionate professionals and volunteers
  • Expansion of your professional network
  • A Certificate of Service upon completion
  • Professional references and letters of recommendation (where appropriate)
  • Valuable experience to strengthen your resume and support future study or career pathways

  • Able to work collaboratively within a small team
