Help Your Community With Lions — Volunteers and New Members Welcome

Want to make a difference in your local community?

Lions brings local people together to help where help is needed.

Lions clubs across District 201N2 support communities across parts of New South Wales and the ACT. Depending on the local club and what is happening in your area, this may include community events, fundraising, health and wellbeing initiatives, youth programs, practical community support and local service projects.

You do not need previous volunteering experience.

You also do not need to commit to every activity.

Some people can help regularly. Others have only a few hours occasionally. Both can make a difference.

What you might do

Depending on your interests and your local Lions club, opportunities may include:

  • helping at community events;
  • assisting with fundraising activities;
  • supporting local service projects;
  • helping with event setup or organisation;
  • community outreach;
  • using professional or practical skills;
  • photography, social media or communications;
  • helping behind the scenes;
  • supporting projects that matter to your local community.

Who we are looking for

We welcome adults from all backgrounds who:

  • care about their community;
  • enjoy helping others;
  • are willing to work alongside local people;
  • would like to contribute their skills, experience or time.

You do not need to be retired.

You do not need to have been involved with Lions before.

You do not need to know exactly how you want to help.

Start by helping

Our approach is simple:

come and experience Lions first.

We will aim to connect you with a Lions club near you so you can meet local Lions and find out what opportunities are available.

If there is no immediate service project, your first contact may instead be an informal conversation, coffee, social activity or introduction to your local club.

Interested in becoming a Lion?

Many people first discover Lions by volunteering.

If you enjoy the experience and would like to become more involved, we would also be pleased to talk with you about Lions membership.

Membership offers opportunities for:

  • meaningful community service;
  • friendship and social connection;
  • leadership and personal development;
  • learning new skills;
  • contributing to causes that matter to you.

Flexible involvement

Lions clubs are volunteer-run and each club is different.

Some activities are regular.

Others happen occasionally throughout the year.

We will try to connect you with the club and opportunities that best suit where you live, what interests you and how much time you have available.

Where there's a need, there's a Lion.

Express your interest and tell us a little about yourself and the type of community involvement that interests you.
