About Beyond Words
Beyond Words is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to celebrating the lives of older Australians living in aged care. We pair residents with trained volunteer biographers to write their life stories and present them to the storyteller, creating meaningful legacies for families and future generations. At the heart of our work is the belief that every life story matters.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspiring and proactive leader to join us as our Volunteer Fundraising Committee Chair. In this critical role, you will lead a dedicated sub-committee of the Beyond Words Board to secure the funds and in-kind contributions needed to drive our financial viability, sustainability, and growth. If you want to use your professional networking and fundraising skills to combat social isolation and honour older generations, we would love to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
Committee Management
Chair all meetings of the fundraising committee.
Oversee all fundraising activities and grant application processes.
Fundraising
Develop a fundraising plan with agreed targets and tasks shared across the committee.
Relationship Management
Act as a key ambassador for Beyond Words to cultivate corporate partners, trust managers, and individual donors.
Represent the organisation in meetings with Aged Care Facilities, corporate sponsors, and financial supporters.
Board Liaison
Attend Board meetings to deliver progress reports and make recommendations regarding new and existing fundraising projects.
Report fundraising progress against agreed priorities and targets.
Compliance Oversight
Ensure all fundraising activities comply with Australian regulations, ACNC guidelines, and state-based charitable legislation.
Align all actions and sub-committee decisions with the core values, purpose, and objectives of Beyond Words.
What We're Looking For:
Fundraising Experience: Proven background in fundraising, grant writing, corporate partnerships, or business development, ideally within the Australian NFP sector.
Leadership Skills: Strong committee management capabilities with a natural ability to motivate and coordinate remote volunteer teams.
Communication Excellence: Exceptional networking and presentation skills to convey our mission to external funding bodies.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian charity regulations and compliance standards is highly desirable.
Mission Alignment: Deep empathy for older generations and a genuine passion for the therapeutic power of storytelling.
Core Attributes: High integrity, professionalism, and a self-motivated mindset suited to a collaborative, remote environment.
Why Join Us:
Make a Tangible Impact: Directly enable the preservation of invaluable life stories for older Australians.
Strategic Leadership Experience: Shape the financial future and growth trajectory of an impactful community organisation while working directly with our Board.
Flexibility: Enjoy the balance of a primarily remote role that fits around your existing personal and professional commitments.
