  • Vision

The Youth Wing is the mechanism for engaging with and developing the skills and commitment of an engaged, young, and diverse membership group in Queensland providing unique contributions to our activism and acting as a wellspring for the future leaders, officeholders and officials of the State Party.

The Youth Wing aims to engage young members (aged 29 and under) and will be developed as a training ground and an opportunity to take a different, more appealing view of activism and politics for young people. It should attract and retain individuals from all groups represented in broader society (e.g., across gender, race, socio-economic status).

The Youth Wing provides an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills, particularly utilizing university politics as a training ground and a means to affect change at a local (campus) level.

    Goals

    1. Establish the Queensland Youth Wing to engage younger members and activists. Identify potential leaders from groups like university vegan societies and local youth groups.
    2. Recruit candidates for a Youth Committee Member/Representative role to ensure the Youth Wing is represented within the State Committee. Engage youth vegan organisations like the UQ Vegan Society.
    3. Plan specific activities tailored to younger supporters. This includes leveraging TikTok and creating campaign-related reels/videos specifically for youth engagement.
    4. The leader of the Youth Wing will be an AJP committee member to ensure they have ways of relating to the State Committee in alignment and effectiveness of its activities.
    5. Mentor Youth Wing members to become our future officials, office holders, and leaders, thereby ensuring a functional and healthy future for the Party.
