We are seeking caring and reliable volunteers to provide companionship and social connection to older people living in the community who may be experiencing social isolation and loneliness.   Many of our clients face challenges such as limited mobility, disability, anxiety, depression, loss of social networks, or simply a lack of regular social contact. A friendly conversation and genuine connection can have a significant impact on their wellbeing and quality of life.   As a Volunteer Visitor, you will spend time with a matched client, sharing a chat, enjoying common interests, or simply providing regular companionship and a listening ear.   What's involved?

  • Commit to a one-hour visit per week.
  • Build a meaningful and ongoing friendship with your matched client.
  • Help reduce loneliness and increase social connection.
  • Be matched, where possible, with a client who shares similar interests, hobbies, or life experiences.

  What support will I receive?

  • Comprehensive volunteer induction and training.
  • Ongoing support from our Volunteer Services team.
  • Opportunities for additional training and development.
  • Reimbursement of mileage to and from volunteering role

Do I need experience? No experience is necessary. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. The most important qualities are kindness, reliability, good listening skills, and a genuine interest in connecting with others.   If you have an hour to spare each week and would like to make a positive difference in someone's life, we would love to hear from you.
