The Maitland Hospital Volunteers Inc. are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to join our volunteer team and provide support for our foyer retail outlet and convenience trolley.
Do you have one hour a fortnight? Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges we face as we age. Can you spare just an hour a fortnight to visit an isolated senior? Do you speak a second language? We have a waiting list of culturally and linguistically diverse, and LGBTQI+ clients who would love some company. A friendly smile and a caring conversation can make a huge difference. Our Social Centres provide a supportive place for clients to connect with others and engage in activities for their health and wellbeing. It also gives carers an opportunity to take time to focus on their needs while knowing that their loved ones are well looked after.
Volunteer to support people with Down syndrome in a fun exercise program: FitSkills FitSkills is an evidence-based physical activity program for people with Down syndrome. In this program the person with Down syndrome will be matched with a volunteer partner. The program runs throughout the term and participants go to the gym together with their matched volunteer once a week followed by a meal with other participants and volunteers.
