PTSD Dogs Australia is a charity that rescue dogs and trains them as assistance dogs for Veterans and 000 First Responders who have been diagnosed with PTSD due to their work in the community. Assistance dogs are trained to help PTSD sufferers to carry out essential tasks, increase their independence and improve quality of life. These dogs are gifted to those in need with ongoing support provided for the dog’s working life. PTSD Dogs has recently launched an online Train Your Own assistance dog program open to the public who have PTSD, Anxiety or depression who would like to train their own suitable dogs to mitigate their PTSD. PTSD Dogs Australia also run an ‘Animal Assisted Smiles Program’ with therapy dog visits to 000 emergency personnel at police, fire and paramedic stations.
