Early Support for Parents provides support to families in Southern Tasmania by training and supporting volunteers to work in the community. Volunteering for ESP can provide pathways to further training, employment and a sense of giving back to your community. Volunteers support families by recognising and working with the strengths of those families. We have been supporting families in Southern Tasmania to build resilience for 28 years. Using evidence based practice, in consultation with the Program Manager, you will provide individual support to families to help them identify goals, set achievable steps and work towards to building on the strengths to resolve identified concerns. The requirements of families vary greatly, and can include advocacy within support services, NDIS advocacy, identifying pathways to school advocacy, encouraging and normalising healthy child development and how to manage the hard days. Volunteering to work with a family can mean a commitment of time that suits you, generally this is around 2-3 hours a week but you negotiate this with the family to suit your needs. Training is available in a group online envrionemtn of an evening, and if there are enough numbers we can also offer day time training. Reimbursement is currently available for internet/phone due to COVID changing our work practice, and for kilometres travelled/public transport costs. Please contact us for more information.
