The Junior/Minis Coach Volunteer is responsible the recruiting, retaining and improving the skills of junior players.
Duties:
- Ensure that all Southern Football League coaches code of behaviours are followed.
- Develop the team fairly and without bias, by ensuring that all players are given an equal amount of playing time.
- Ensure a positive playing environment by ensuring that all mini players have good sportsmanship, play fairly and letting them know that the game is played for fun and not for the win.
- Communicate with players on their own level.
- Build relationships with the players, parents, committee and the football community.
- Keep in touch with player’s families about any changes that may affect game day eg. Playing field and time changes.
- Contact the coaching coordinator of any problems that occur during the match.
- Be willing to assist the club in running of social events that junior players are involved with.
- Design and implement as a member of a team an attraction and retention program that will boost the level of junior players at the club.
Qualifications:
- a youth level 1 course must be completed.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate verbally to the intended audience.
- Have a familiarity with the game, how it is played and the rules that are followed.
- Time management and people management are essential.
- Have an understanding about fair play and good sportsmanship.
- Have knowledge and ideas of player retention and recruitment and be able to implement them in the role.
Experience:
- No experience is necessary just an understanding of the rules of the game and how to communicate with children under the age of 18.
Training available to completed for becoming a coach.
