A poem in stone, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral is a landmark building of international importance. The story of this fabulous twentieth century cathedral has been published world-wide in a book listing 83 magnificent cathedrals from around the world!

Volunteer Tour Guides are able to showcase this amazing building to tourists & are provided with the training and support needed to ensure their success.

If you are someone who has a passion for history, arts and culture or architecture, you will enjoy this role.

We are looking for volunteers who have the confidence to guide a group of people independently and also meets the following requirements:

  • loves dealing with people;
  • has a friendly disposition;
  • possesses good communication skills;
  • is punctual (as tours start on time); and,
  • responsible

Training will be provided to ensure your success, as you will be conducting the tours independently.

Volunteer Tour Guides can offer their time weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We are looking for volunteers who can volunteer regularly and there is flexibility with the roster, as we understand you may have other commitments.

Tours take place 4 days a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday & Friday), but volunteers will be rostered ONCE a month for 2 hours. You could offer to be on the roster for more than once, if you have the time.

For tours on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, volunteer needs to arrive by 2 pm and will leave at 4 pm.

For tours on Friday, the volunteer is needed between 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
