Toy Library Volunteer Assistant

Volunteer with the Cockburn Toy Library a not‐for‐profit group focused on giving local families and their children access to great toys.

Volunteers will be trained and supervised by the Toy Librarian and will work with one or two other volunteers to complete key tasks that help the library to operate. We are looking for people who are friendly, reliable, and prepared to learn new skills. If you are over 18 years of age, you will require a current Working with Children Check. Our Librarians can help to organise a check if you do not have one.

Develop independence and confidence in a friendly, low-pressure space. Support workers are welcome to attend alongside volunteers. Support to learn administrative, organisational, and customer service skills for your resume.

Key Tasks

• Setting out shed toys, costume racks, and signage.
• Greeting members when they arrive.
• Counting and processing toys as they are returned.
• Assisting families with carrying toys to their cars.
• Loaning and returning toys.
• Tidying shelving and neatening the library space.
• Matching found pieces with toys.
• Using spare parts to get toys back to being borrowable.
• Raking leaves and tidying the garden (Coolbellup site only).

Cockburn Toy Library is a volunteer run, not‐for‐profit group focused on giving local families and their children access to great toys. Our goal is to support children’s development while promoting sustainability through sharing and reuse. With the help of volunteers, we can run regular borrowing sessions to spread the fun of play.
