“Friends of Porteous Park” is restoring a 1.6ha patch of a remnant of biodiverse banksia woodland located within Porteous Park. It is valuable bird habitat, especially for small bird species, that are now rare in Sorrento. Our aim is to bring the banksia woodland back into excellent condition via local native planting, environmental weeding and litter removal.

Volunteers are equipped and instructed to do the tasks required and learn a lot about our banksia woodland environment as they participate. For those studying allied fields, the practical experience is very valuable – we would be very pleased to see you.

We meet every Wednesday morning 7:30am to 9:30am, followed by coffee. We also meet on some Saturday mornings, mainly in winter and spring, starting at 8.00am. Volunteers can select what days they wish to participate and are placed on an email list. Volunteers can unsubscribe at any time.

All welcome who wish to be involved and learn about bushcare. If you would like to be part of this fantastic conservation program please make contact with the "Friends of Porteous Park".
