Friends of Sorrento Beach and Marmion Foreshore is doing an ëcological restoration" of 2.5km of coastal foreshore reserve through the suburbs of Sorrento and Marmion. This is a high profile section of foreshore, viewed by thousands of people each week from the shared path, road and two surf clubs. Our aim is to bring it back to excellent condition, via planting, weeding and litter collection. We are progressing well towards this goal with native animals returning to their habitat. We also collect marine debris from the beaches, especially after storm events.

Volunteers are equipped and trained to do the tasks required and learn a lot about the coastal environment as they participate. For those studying allied fields, the practical experience is very valuable and we would be very pleased to see you. We can also provide references if required.

We meet every Thursday morning, 7:30am to 9:30am, followed by coffee. Volunteers can select what days they wish to participate and are placed on an email list. Volunteers can unsubscribe at any time. The site is located on bus and cycle routes. Children aged under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

If you would like to be part of this fantastic conservation program, please contact the Friends of Sorrento Beach and Marmion Foreshore.
