Whittlesea Community Connections

Logo for Whittlesea Community Connections

Mernda Repair Café will be the first community Repair Program for the community of Whittlesea hosted at the Mernda Community House and outdoor community space. It is a free, inclusive and cross cultural community event that offers repairs of personal items by volunteer Repairers. Our focus is to bring awareness of a more sustainable lifestyle where we can divert items from landfill in our community. We hope to ignite interest and the sharing of skills in repair and maintenance of items.

The Repair Café events will run once a month, from April to December 2022. The events will be covid compliant, run by a team of volunteer Repairers and Helpers from the community with support from the Repair Café Coordinator on the day. We understand that this position is voluntary and we will work with your availability.

Join the Team: Be an Eco Warrior and help the community to reduce waste going to landfill. To assist with the repair of a garment item that a community member has brought to the event. To share your knowledge of basic mending repairs with the community.
