Could you be a friend and advocate for Diana?

PLEASE NOTE: This is a long term, freely given advocacy relationship and is not suitable for student placements, Centrelink obligations or people primarily looking to gain experience in the disability sector.
Citizen Advocacy connects people with disability with voluntary members of the local community.
We are looking for someone to be a friend and advocate for Diana, a woman who has a disability and experiences memory loss, and who would benefit from having another trusted and independent person in her life.
Diana enjoys getting out and about, using her computer and having a good bit of banter. She would benefit from someone friendly and reliable who is happy to spend time with her, have a laugh and build a genuine relationship over time.
As Diana’s advocate, the main focus is getting to know her and building trust. At times, this may also include supporting Diana to have her say, speaking up alongside her or helping her navigate situations where she needs some extra support.
Experience with memory loss may be helpful but is not essential. No formal qualifications are required. What matters most is being reliable, willing to get to know Diana and interested in building a genuine, long term relationship.
Your Involvement
This is a flexible, long term role shaped around what suits you both. There are no set shifts, and the time you spend together and the things you do may change as the relationship develops.
Orientation, training and ongoing support will be provided by Citizen Advocacy Launceston.
If you enjoy a bit of banter, getting out and about, and would like to be someone independent in Diana’s corner, we would love to hear from you.
