EAL Tutors assist culturally diverse adult migrants and refugees to improve their English language and literacy skills to participate in community activities, access services and follow pathways to further courses, vocational training or employment. Most students generally have lower levels of English, from absolute beginners with low literacy (Preliminary Course) to intermediate (Certificate III).

Adult Literacy Students may be adults born in Australia who have literacy difficulties, adults who have not had the opportunity to learn to read and write, or engage with learning, adults with learning difficulties or adults from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who can speak English but require literacy support. Adult Literacy tutors work 1:1 with students.
