The Philanthropy Australia Conference is a premier thought leadership event for the Australasian region. It is an opportunity to bring the Australian philanthropic sector and not-for-profit sector together with the world’s best thinkers, strategists and voices.

The 2024 conference will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre from Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 August 2024. 

Philanthropy Australia is inviting a certain number of volunteers to assist in preparing and delivering sessions and activities during the conference. The responsibilities the volunteers are expected to undertake during the conference include but not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the setup of the conference venue, such as registration desk and meeting rooms.
  • Prepare conference materials (name badges, brochures, magazines, etc.).
  • Greet conference attendees upon arrival and provide guidance.
  • Assist with the onsite registration process.
  • Provide logistics support for meeting sessions, such as directing attendees to selected rooms, checking name badges and passing microphones, etc.
  • Other admin work such as printing, errands, etc.

Volunteers will receive the following benefits:

  • Selected opportunities to meet and connect with leading individuals and organisations in the philanthropic sector.
  • Hands-on experience in running a large-scale conference with international attendees.
  • Free daily catering including welcome coffee/tea, morning/afternoon tea breaks and lunch.
  • Volunteering verification letter if needed.
  • You will also be able to attend some of the sessions or masterclasses before or after the volunteering shift.

Volunteers need to meet the following requirements to apply for the role:

  • Related tertiary qualifications in philanthropy or social work, or relevant work experience in similar areas are preferred.
  • Customer service skills – comfortable to speak to different people, provide guidance and advice, and handle unexpected issues.
  • Punctuality and accountability –attend the training and assigned volunteering shift on time and complete the tasks as planned.
  • Comply with the regulations and rules of both the convention centre and the conference organisation – dress code, code of conduct, privacy protection, etc.
