Social Support Volunteer - Friendly Visitor for an Older Person

St Jude’s Volunteer Visitor Program is currently looking for a new volunteer who would be interested in visiting a lady who is living in her own home in the South Plympton area.
This lady’s ideal volunteer would be aged 50+, with a local background and of Christian faith. She would welcome either a female or male visitor.

As a Volunteer with this program you will be asked to commit a minimum of 1 hour per fortnight to visiting the person you have been matched with.
Activities undertaken during visits can vary according to the older person's interests, but can include chatting, undertaking a favourite activity such as listening to music, pottering around the garden, going for a walk or even having a coffee out.
You will be supported by the Volunteer Coordinator and reimbursed for expenses directly related to your visits. There is no aged care experience required for this role, but genuine empathy and respect for older people are essential. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
All volunteers are required to have National Police Clearance. If you would like to apply but don't have a Clearance, we can assist you apply for one and cover the costs of the application.
