Help a Blind man enjoy a swim in Bentleigh

Do you enjoy swimming? Do you enjoy supporting people? Would you like to learn how to guide a blind person?

Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria is looking for a friendly swimming buddy to accompany a blind man living in McKinnon for weekly swims at his local pool - GSAC in Bentleigh. This will be a two hour time commitment each week or fortnight on an ongoing basis.

You will be part of the Walking with Willpower program, which aims to increase fitness, well-being and community involvement for adults who are blind or vision impaired.

As a friendly, volunteer swimming buddy, you need to be more than 18 years of age, with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities.

Recruitment involves an interview, police and referee checks and completion of short training on how to best assist a person who has vision loss whilst out walking and swimming.
