As a Volunteer Legal Assistant, you will support the In-House Legal Counsel/Company Secretary in ensuring the efficient operation of corporate legal matters. You’ll assist with promoting strong governance practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and handling a range of legal responsibilities. Position Specific Credentials, Qualifications, and Other Requirements

Anglicare will arrange for volunteers to obtain the following mandatory credentials prior to commencement:

  • National Police Check

Skills and Qualities Required

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous legal research or secretarial experience
  • A genuine passion for making a positive impact, especially within the community services sector
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute to team decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail in dynamic environments
  • Experience with digital tools for document management and a willingness to develop proficiency in electronic systems

Responsibilities

As a Volunteer Legal Assistant, you will:

  • Conduct legal research and manage routine legal matters
  • Assist in preparing legal documents and presentations to support the Legal team’s activities
  • Organise and coordinate meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas, taking detailed minutes, and ensuring materials are ready for discussion
  • Maintain company and document registers
  • Manage diaries and emails proactively
