As a Volunteer Legal Assistant, you will support the In-House Legal Counsel/Company Secretary in ensuring the efficient operation of corporate legal matters. You’ll assist with promoting strong governance practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and handling a range of legal responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to provide administrative and paralegal support in a dynamic and mission-driven organisation.
Position Specific Credentials, Qualifications, and Other Requirements
Anglicare will arrange for volunteers to obtain the following mandatory credentials prior to commencement:
- National Police Check
Skills and Qualities Required
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous legal research or secretarial experience
- A genuine passion for making a positive impact, especially within the community services sector
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute to team decision-making
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail in dynamic environments
- Experience with digital tools for document management and a willingness to develop proficiency in electronic systems
Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Legal Assistant, you will:
- Conduct legal research and manage routine legal matters
- Assist in preparing legal documents and presentations to support the Legal team’s activities
- Organise and coordinate meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas, taking detailed minutes, and ensuring materials are ready for discussion
- Maintain company and document registers
- Manage diaries and emails proactively
