The Role
Ready to make a real difference? As a volunteer with the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), you’ll connect with older people who may be feeling isolated and bring some much-needed joy into their lives. You’ll have the chance to:
- Enjoy meaningful conversations and share interests
- Watch a favourite show or work on a hobby together
- Play games, take walks, or even help write a letter
- Simply be a friend who visits regularly, making their day brighter and fostering a sense of community
Skills & Qualities
- Hobbies or interests to share
- Great social skills and a knack for building relationships
- Compassionate, patient, and a respectful listener
- Comfortable working independently while maintaining professional boundaries
Expectations
Mandatory:
- Complete training (online and in-person)
- National Police Check (we’ll take care of it)
Essential:
- Availability for at least one hour per fortnight (we’re flexible!)
- Commitment to regular visits
- Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Two referees
