Cancer Council SA’s vision is for a cancer free future by funding critical cancer research, delivering cancer prevention, education and advocacy programs and providing support to people affected by cancer. Ultimately we aim to save lives and improve the quality of life of South Australians. We have served the community for over 90 years and have an enviable reputation as one of SA’s most trusted charities.

One of the services we provide is accommodation (Greenhill Lodge – 202 Greenhill Road Eastwood) for people travelling to Adelaide for cancer treatment. As a part of this operation we provide a bus service for these guests to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Tennyson Centre Day Hospital and Bedford Park for treatment. This service is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.

We now require a few volunteers to assist in running this service for our guests.

The service operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), we appreciate the commitment and support of our volunteers and work with each one to arrange the most suitable days and times for them to volunteer with us.

Any time you give is valuable, be it 3 hours per week or 3 days a week.

The hours of this role are part of an organised roster (morning, midday, afternoon), with shifts available weekly or fortnightly across three transport services.

Travelling far from home can place further stress on people effected by cancer. Complementing our accommodation facility, the Transport to Treatment Service provides transport to and from treatment centres to further ease the burden on our guests.

An opportunity to be part of a warm, inclusive environment and provide genuine impact to people effected by cancer.

Empathy, compassion and a willingness to assist our guests are essential qualities to underpin this role.

Please note:

The buses can be driven with a Class C (Car) driver’s licence.

A medical assessment will be required prior to commencement.

A National Police Clearance will be required prior to commencement.

While working at Cancer Council SA all our employees and volunteers must be non-smokers and not use e cigarettes at Cancer Council SA sites and are required to promote a healthy lifestyle and adopt a sun smart attitude.
