Medical Personnel - Special Olympics WA State Team

As the Medical Personnel volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting Special Olympics athletes throughout their preparation and participation in the 2026 National Games. You’ll work closely with the Head of Delegation and coaching teams to ensure every athlete is healthy, safe, and ready to perform at their best.
Key Duties - Gather and organise medical information for all team members prior to the Games. - Prepare medical registers and athlete medication timetables and support coaches in understanding and implementing them. - Communicate with athletes, families, and carers regarding medical needs and requirements. - Administer medications, provide injury treatment, and oversee recovery sessions during the Games. - Advise coaches on how injury or illness may impact athlete performance and provide strategies to support athlete wellbeing. - Provide daily medical reports during competition and compile post-games medical documentation.
Skills and Experience Needed - Qualified medical professional (e.g., doctor, registered nurse). - Experience working with people with a disability. - Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills. - Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage long days during competition. - Understanding of the needs of athletes with an intellectual disability. - First Aid/CPR certification and Working With Children Check.
