French Lessons, a popular and heavily attended class held at our West Perth facility; our Facilitator requires a fellow French speaking assistant to support the group to learn all things French in a fun and engaging environment. The role consists of using your French flair to encourage and guide residents who are eager to learn the language and explore the culture of France, whether this be with conversation, music or stories.

Our Cultural Volunteer program is currently looking for volunteers of a Greek background. The role of these volunteers is to engage with residents who would benefit from engaging in topics related to shared culture, religion, language and family history. A day could look like hosting a morning tea (3-5 people), doing one-on-one room visits or generally assisting those who may experience language barriers that hinder their ability to socially engage within the facility.

This role aims to provide a flexible companionship arrangement and benefits residents who steer away from structured and formality-based support. This includes meeting and greeting residents of all cognition levels, backgrounds, and interests by conducting one-on-one unplanned visits, assisting with activities and encouraging participation to engage.

Do you have experience with Dementia, Alzheimer's or dealing with people experiencing general cognitive decline? You may just be the right fit! We are in search of volunteers who would find fulfillment in creating long term companionship and friendship with those who don't readily mix with other residents, generally as a result of these conditions. A day in the role could look like gentle conversation in a resident's room, doing puzzles, or simply exercising compassion and sharing company.

Our Companionship program aims to develop connections between volunteers and residents by carefully matching up pairs based on interests, language and cultural backgrounds. The program aims to supports volunteers to spend one on one time with residents who tend to find themselves isolated, lonely, and lacking external visitors. Often this form of isolation is a result of adjusting to living in residential care and can lead to feelings of loneliness and further isolation.

We need people to volunteer in various roles on event day along the course - no experience needed.
