The Maltese Aged Care Association of South Australia (MACASA) is seeking dedicated and reliable Volunteer Kitchen Hands who want to make a genuine, ongoing contribution to the wellbeing of older people in our community.

At MACASA, our meal service is more than food. For many of our senior clients, it represents comfort, cultural connection, dignity, and the ability to remain living independently at home. Behind every meal delivered is a committed kitchen team ensuring it is prepared with care and respect.

We are looking for volunteers who take pride in being dependable, who value teamwork, and who want to contribute to a service that truly matters.

The Role

Our kitchen operates Monday to Friday, with volunteers required from 8:00am to 1:00pm, depending on the number of meals produced that day.

As a Volunteer Kitchen Hand, you will:

  • Assist with preparing fresh vegetables and ingredients
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene through dishwashing and cleaning
  • Support safe and efficient meal packing
  • Help prepare equipment for daily meal deliveries
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and well-organised kitchen environment

This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, understands the importance of reliability, and values being part of a committed team.

Commitment & Training

MACASA values consistency and teamwork. We are seeking volunteers who can commit to regular weekly shifts and become a trusted part of our kitchen operations.

All volunteers are required to attend annual Food Safety and Manual Handling training to ensure best practice and compliance. Training is provided and supported by our team.
