Co-Facilitator - Suicide Bereavement Peer Support Group Volunteer

Key Duties : · Co-facilitate the delivery of group sessions. · Assist and support the lead Facilitator in the preparation of group sessions. · Build rapport with new and returning participants, helping them feel comfortable and supported. · Assist in the opening and closing rituals of the group, helping to maintain a consistent, reliable structure for participants. · Help maintain an inclusive atmosphere, attentive to the needs and boundaries of group members. · Identify when a participant may need additional support and work with the Lead Facilitator to provide appropriate referrals or "de-escalation" in the moment. · Support the lead Facilitator with basic administrative tasks, such as attendance tracking and resource preparation. · Attend regular supervision or debriefing sessions to support your own wellbeing and reflective practice.
Abilities/requirements
- Lived experience of suicide bereavement, be at a stable point in one's own grief journey (generally recommended 2+ years post-loss) to safely hold space for others with similar experiences.
· Ability to listen deeply, ask open-ended questions, and manage group dynamics with empathy and neutrality. · Understands the principles of peer support and trauma-informed practice. · Has strong interpersonal and communication skills. · High level of self-awareness and the ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries. · Works well collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team. · Is comfortable working in a community-based environment. · Commitment to the 4th Monday of the month to ensure consistency for the community.
