NILS Volunteer for Mt Druitt – Make a Difference in Your Community

💙Great with people? Comfortable with a computer? Looking for a meaningful way to use your skills to help others?
Our No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) helps people on low incomes access safe and affordable loans for essential goods and services — without interest or fees.
For someone experiencing financial hardship, being able to replace a broken fridge, purchase essential household items or meet an important expense can make a real difference.
That’s where our NILS Volunteers come in.
Working alongside our Microfinance team, you’ll help clients navigate the NILS application process while ensuring they feel welcomed, respected and supported along the way.
💻 What will you be doing?
This role combines people, administration and practical support. Depending on the day, you may be:
- Welcoming clients and responding to NILS enquiries
- Supporting clients through the loan application process
- Helping clients understand and gather required documentation
- Assisting with appointments and follow-up
- Completing data entry and general administration
- Using email and online systems to support applications
- Working alongside our Microfinance team to keep applications moving
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when working with personal information
❤️You don't need to be a financial expert to make a difference.
We’re looking for people who are friendly, empathetic, organised and comfortable working with people who may be experiencing financial hardship.
You’ll need basic computer skills and confidence using email and online systems, along with good communication and attention to detail.
Customer service, administration, banking or finance experience would be an advantage, but isn't essential. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
Most importantly, you’ll bring a non-judgemental approach, patience and a genuine desire to help people.
