School Board Member
As a Board Member, you will play a meaningful role in supporting Hensman Street Elementary to succeed, helping shape strategic direction and contributing to positive outcomes children in our community, including some of the most vulnerable youth and their families.
Duties include:
- Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Prepare for meetings by reviewing agendas and supporting documents
- Respond in a timely manner when input or feedback is requested
- Contribute ideas, insights, and constructive discussion to support the School’s strategic intentions
- Exercise your deliberative vote as part of Board decision-making
- Declare any actual or perceived conflicts of interest in accordance with Board requirements
- Act in the best interests of the School and its community
- Support and promote the work of the School within the community where appropriate

- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Digitally confident, including email, Microsoft Teams, and document tools
- Connections to community or external networks (welcome but not essential)
Experience: Experience on a School Board or similar is preferred, but not essential. We encourage applications from individuals with diverse skills, backgrounds, and perspectives.
