VOLUNTEER SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT ASSISTANT

Love creating social media content and capturing memorable moments?

We're looking for creative, enthusiastic volunteers to capture photos, videos and behind-the-scenes moments throughout City2Surf Sydney.

Working alongside Canteen staff, you'll help create engaging content that showcases the energy of the event, celebrates our incredible runners & supporters while raising awareness for young people impacted by cancer.

What you'll do:

• Capture photo and video content throughout the event
• Record exciting race-day moments, volunteer experiences and supporter stories -Manage consent forms and waivers -Setup and support the photobooth
• Assist with creating Instagram Stories, Reels and other social media content
• Help showcase the atmosphere, community spirit and impact of Team Canteen
• Support the communications team with content requests as required

Ideal volunteers will:

• Be confident using a smartphone to capture high-quality 4K content
• Have a good understanding of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
• Enjoy engaging with people and capturing authentic moments
• Be proactive, creative and comfortable working in a busy event environment

By volunteering as a Social Media Content Assistant, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience creating engaging content for a leading not-for-profit organisation and a major community fundraising event.

About Canteen

Canteen supports young people aged 12–25 when cancer crashes into their lives. Through counselling, peer support and life-changing programs, Canteen's mission is to ensure no young person faces cancer alone.

City2Surf Sydney is one of Canteen's major fundraising events, bringing together supporters from across the community to raise vital funds and awareness for young people impacted by cancer.

What you will need to bring

• Fully Charged Apple or Android phone
• Portable charger
• Comfortable footwear (expect long periods of standing)
• Water Bottle (refill stations located around the course)
• Sun protection (hat, sunglasses & sunscreen)
• Small backpack to keep your belongings with you

Please note: This role is located within the event crowds at the City2Surf finish line in Bondi. Volunteers will be surrounded by large numbers of people throughout the day and exposed to a high-energy environment with cheering, music and other loud event noises.

To enjoy this role, you should be comfortable standing in close proximity to others and being immersed in a busy, noisy atmosphere for extended periods.
