CANTEEN FINISH LINE VOLUNTEERS

They have conquered Heartbreak Hill, smashed personal bests, and crossed the finish line, now it's time to give them the warm Canteen welcome they deserve!

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteer ushers to celebrate every Canteen runner as they cross the finish line.

What You'll Be Doing

• Cheering on participants as they cross the finish line
• Directing runners and supporters to Canteen Thankyou Event and amenities
• Helping create a positive and welcoming atmosphere
• Assisting with crowd flow and general event information
• Celebrating and thanking our amazing fundraisers and supporters

About Canteen

Canteen supports young people aged 12–25 when cancer crashes into their lives. Through counselling, peer support and life-changing programs, Canteen's mission is to ensure no young person faces cancer alone.

City2Surf Sydney is one of Canteen's major fundraising events, bringing together supporters from across the community to raise vital funds and awareness for young people impacted by cancer.

What Canteen will provide

• Canteen T’shirt (returned after)
• Canteen Bandanna (our gift to you)
• Snacks and refreshments
• Volunteer identification lanyard
• Access to Canteen City2Surf group chat for event communications
• A supportive, inclusive and respectful volunteer team

What you will need to bring

• Comfortable footwear (expect long periods of standing)
• Water Bottle (refill stations located around the course)
• Sun protection (hat, sunglasses & sunscreen)
• Small backpack to keep your belongings with you
• Fully charged mobile phone (for event communications and emergencies)

Please note:

This role is located within the crowds along the City2Surf course. Volunteers will be surrounded by large numbers of people throughout the day and exposed to a high-energy environment with cheering, music and other loud event noises.

To enjoy this role, you should be comfortable standing in close proximity to others and being immersed in a busy, noisy atmosphere for extended periods.
